Deals on Wheels stopped by the NZAM/Hireways open day to check out the new machinery
It was a quick stop for a few hours in Wellington recently, calling in to see the unveiling of the new Hydrema 707G site dumper.
Seizing an opportunity for like-minded people who were keen to see the 5.5-tonne off-road truck in the flesh, distributors NZAM/Hireways turned things up a notch by setting a small area aside to demonstrate the head-turning Mecalac 6MCR, which as the advertising blurb said, gives operators the speed of a loader, combined with the rotation and versatility of an excavator.
Hydrema 707G
But first, we should take a quick look at the star attraction of the event. The Hydrema 707G is what can be only described as a top contender for best-dressed urban site dumper, with its high visibility, ergonomically-designed cabin, and numerous features, which include rear vision camera, rotating bin, and self-raising hood.
With a carrying capacity of 6500kg, the small dumper will be well-suited for numerous jobs that are too tight or awkward to get larger equipment onto.

Mecalac 6MCR
Fresh off the back of NZAM’s recently-announced distributorship of the French-built Mecalac range, the 6MCR will require a degree of lateral re-thinking by operators as the multi-purpose piece of kit combines excavator knowledge with skid steer capability, which is probably only defined by the skills and imagination of the person behind the controls. These machines look formidable and, in the right hands, should provide strong returns on investment.
Also on-site, helping keep punters informed and up-to-date with their latest products were Prime Pumps and Maxxis Tyres. No doubt we’ll also hear more from these businesses in the coming months.
