CCNZ Canterbury Westland Awards celebrate top civil construction projects, standout companies, and industry leaders across the region

Civil construction firms and workers from across Canterbury and the West Coast were recognised at the Civil Contractors New Zealand (CCNZ) Canterbury Westland Hynds and Tech5 Recruitment Contractor of the Year Awards. The black-tie event at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre brought together several hundred industry members to acknowledge notable regional projects and individual achievements.

Twenty award categories highlighted work ranging from small urban upgrades to major infrastructure builds. HEB Construction emerged as the most decorated company, winning multiple project awards for work in central Christchurch and on the West Coast’s Bridge 89 replacement. The company also received the Environmental and Health & Safety awards, before taking home the Supreme Award.

Isaac Construction collected four awards, including recognition for its role in the Te Kaha Surrounding Streets project around Christchurch’s new stadium. Judges cited strong stakeholder engagement and early delivery in presenting the company with the award for projects valued over $10 million and the Community Image Award.

People-focused honours reflected varied paths into the industry. Naci Namata of Isaac Construction received the Personal Improvement Award for progressing from policing in Fiji to civil engineering in New Zealand. Adam Green of ARC Projects was named Emerging Leader for his development from student labourer to site engineer. Long-serving contributors Brian Warren and Paul Taggart were also acknowledged, alongside excavator operator Sam Burleigh, who will represent the region nationally in 2026.
