Trico Equipment

Trico Equipment, born from the merger of three South Island hire companies, offers a wider range of top-quality equipment

“To go far, go together” is the approach that three families – the Murrays, the Wallaces and the Bassetts – have taken in pooling their separate South Island equipment hire companies into one: Trico Equipment.

“What underpins this merger is that we’re stronger together,” Trico’s sales and marketing manager Harland Bassett says.

“This merger of the three family companies isn’t something we’ve done on the fly, but directly feeds into our long-term strategy to be behind every great work site across the South Island.

“The advantages are immediate for our customers, with access to a much larger range of equipment across the South Island, with branches in Dunedin, Christchurch, Rangiora and Amberley, with further branches planned.”

Now with a team of 30 + staff and more than 750 pieces of plant, and a similar number of specialist attachments, Trico are well positioned for growth to support the growing hire market.

“The industries and customers we target always have been, and remain, trade customers, particularly contractors and tier one companies,” Harland says. “With a much greater and uniform fleet, we feel well-positioned to supply our core customers, and to grow existing relationships while going after new customers, giving them the Trico advantage.”

Harland says the company has a large amount of near-new, well-presented, used equipment that feeds into its disposal model, and they hire only the newest and most well-maintained equipment.

“Please reach out to us in your in the market, and we’ll find you something,” he says.

“We’ve united to provide access to the best equipment in the South Island: hire or buy, we can get you what you need wherever you need it.”

Harland says the company is backed by top staff who have the confidence and close support of the management team.

“At Trico, we have a fast-moving, outcome-focused culture, and our staff are not only highly skilled but loyal. Focusing on outcomes for the customer is number one, and they’ll know that we stand behind them to make the calls to move mountains.”

Harland adds, “We support our customers to succeed by delivering the right solution for the job, and it’s our knowledge, speed and maintenance teams that keep your work sites running at optimum efficiency.

“We have the skills and the equipment, and our merger simply takes them to a wider customer base. If you want to go far, go together.”
