Born and bred in Reefton, Wattie’s introduction to the industry started out as a yard boy for Heathstock Haulage. One of the bonuses for yard boys once upon a time was being able to drive trucks around the yard, usually to and from the wash bay or workshop. This was no different for Wattie, and by the age ten he had become quite adept at driving trucks around the premises.
