Isuzu trucks celebrates 15 years at number one
Isuzu is the number-one selling truck brand in NZ.

Isuzu general manager Colin Muir said that it is with a sense of pride that Isuzu can say their trucks have led sales in New Zealand for one and a half decades.

"Isuzu trucks have a reputation for being cost effective to buy and we have been able to provide great product options for both small and large businesses in New Zealand," he said.

"We take a lot of pleasure in being able to assure our customers that they will not only get excellent back up and service from our truck dealers but also from our authorised service outlets across the country.

Isuzu trucks has lead the way since 1999, the same year that Helen Clark formed her first Labour government; Bill Clinton was acquitted in impeachment proceedings, Boris Yeltsin resigned as president of Russia leaving Vladimir Putin in charge, and it was also a year that people were concerned about what might happen to computers with the Y2K millennium bug on its way.

"I think it’s fair to say that many people have been involved in helping with the success of Isuzu trucks since 1999 and we still take our market leadership very seriously today. Our customers have shown great loyalty over the years and we will continue to work hard to ensure our customers receive the best possible outcome for their business," Muir said.

In 2014 Isuzu was:

  • No1 for Light Truck sales with over 35% of all registrations (3500kg-9,000kg GVM).
  • No1 in Medium Truck sales with over 24% of all registrations (9,001kg-23,000kg GVM).
  • No3 in Heavy truck sales with over 10% of all registrations (23,001kg+ GVM).

A quick summary of the product options available in 2015 include:

  • 4 brand new Allison Automatic Medium trucks.
  • Euro V Giga Trucks – range is increasing from 11 models to 18.
  • New/reintroduced Giga’s in both Manual and AMT transmissions.
  • LT434-P rear engine Bus chassis.

Isuzu achieved 878 Registrations in 2014 for a 20% market share. One in every five trucks registered last year was adorned with the Isuzu logo and badging.
