The competition has closed and the readers have spoken. The winner of the Deals on Wheels Best Eatery on the Road Competition is...

As usual we received many hundreds of votes over the duration of the competition. Some people got really over-enthusiastic and voted for their favourite place many times, over the course of each month. Unfortunately, they may have neglected to read our not-so-fine print and in doing so didn't realise that only one vote per month was allowed.

Once our clever computer system sorted through all the eligible votes, a fairly slim difference separated the two front runners, although a large number of the eateries were in contention for the top spots.

So, it is our pleasure to announce the winners:

First place: Rangitaiki Tavern, Taupo

Runner-up: Dunsandel Stop Shop, Dunsandel

Both of these eateries have been in the top two spots previously, so should definitely be on the call-in lists of readers. The Ed will be visiting the two winning eateries in the next few weeks to present each with an award.
